San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is seeking a dynamic individual to step into the Director of Accounting and Finance role, a key position within SANDAG’s Executive team. This key position is tailored for a seasoned executive with the capability to provide strategic vision, offer insightful guidance, and adeptly manage the administrative and operational dimensions of the department. The Director will lead a dedicated team, collectively responsible for robust accounting and financial reporting functions that support all agency programs with a strong focus on delivering outstanding customer service. In addition to planning and coordinating department goals, policies, and priorities, the Director’s responsibilities include managing financial and compliance audits, overseeing the agency's debt program, and presenting complex financial information and guidance to various committees.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a bachelor's degree with significant coursework in finance, accounting, business management, or a related field, coupled with at least eight years of progressively advancing career experience in managing and administering complex finance programs and services. Ideally, this experience should be gained in a public agency environment, and the candidate should have at least four years of supervisory responsibility. A CPA, CPFO, CGFM, or comparable certification is highly desirable. Emphasizing leadership, mentorship, and alignment with the agency's culture, the ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver motivated by challenges and dedicated to making a positive impact within the organization and the region.

Salary: $166,256 - $257,697
