Public Affairs Manager

The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) is seeking a Public Affairs Manager, who will be responsible for overseeing the District’s public affairs, communications, and legislative-related activities through strategic planning, development, and timely dissemination of information. The role ensures effective communication and representation of water and power operational issues affecting the Imperial and Coachella Valley communities. The Manager maintains a highly visible community interface, engaging with state and federal elected officials, local governments, business leaders, special interest groups, and community representatives. The Public Affairs Manager performs duties as determined by the General Manager, Board of Directors, and management, with significant responsibilities for formulating and administering District policies or programs at the executive level. They also play a pivotal role in administering matters at the executive level.

Ideal candidates will provide sound advice to the leadership team and staff on delivering messages and communicating with the media, public, and District stakeholders. Candidates with experience crafting language on politically sensitive subjects and distilling complex policy issues into accessible communications will excel in this role. This individual will be a strategic thinker with excellent project management skills, ensuring each campaign is seamlessly integrated into a cohesive strategy. While knowledge of power utility and irrigation district operations is desirable, it is not required.

Salary: $158,680 - $202,520
