Public Health Director
San Bernardino County

San Bernardino County, CA is seeking a Public Health Director. The County seeks a skilled administrator, preferably with a background in public health, health and human services, or healthcare administration. An expert communicator, the Public Health Director will be able to adapt to a variety of different audiences and subjects with ease. This person will be eager to tackle new challenges and deliver innovative solutions that will make a meaningful impact on the residents of the county every single day.

This person will embrace the vast size of the County, its diverse population, coupled with its large number of remote, unincorporated communities who pose substantial challenges, and work to develop new strategies to promote healthy living and provide access to a full spectrum of public health services. 

Collaboration, humility, and a team approach are essential in this role – the next Director of Public Health needs to be able stick to the facts, work with data, and steer through politics to reach consensus with relevant stakeholders. The Public Health Director will set the tone and example for the Department’s culture. The County is looking for someone with the ability to reimagine public health service delivery in the wake of COVID-19 by realigning people and processes to best serve the public interest. This work would extend to major partners and stakeholders with other County departments, hospitals, and service providers.


Location: San Bernardino, California
Salary: $162,427 – $220,355
