The City of Lathrop, CA is seeking a Police Chief. The Police Chief must be well versed in, and an active practitioner of, community-oriented policing and problem solving, and exhibit a history of building partnerships between the Department and community to address crime and quality of life challenges. The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with other City departments, staff, and a wide array of community organizations and individuals. The Chief must be a strong leader and public safety generalist who is able to earn the respect of the Department’s new personnel. The ideal candidate will be creative and visionary – capable of providing the direction and the tools to help create this new Department. This requires a mix of “big picture perspective” combined with a focus on day-to-day operations and the ability to engender a true community-oriented focus throughout the Department. The ideal candidate will have the demonstrated ability to lead with confidence and proactively addresses community issues through an intellectual, data-driven, and respectful approach. The Chief must embrace the philosophy of respect, collaboration, and a high degree of integrity.
