As a member of the Fire Chief’s Executive Team, the Division Chief, often referred to as a Deputy Chief in similar sized fire departments, is a highly responsible administrative and supervisory position responsible for overseeing one or more of the major divisions of the fire department. The department’s two Division Chiefs assist the Fire Chief in planning, organizing, and coordinating all programs, functions, and activities of the department to fulfill emergency management, fire prevention, fire hazard suppression, emergency medical, fire code enforcement and preservation of life and property requirements of the City.
The City of Greeley Fire Department is seeking a Division Fire Chief. As a member of the Fire Chief’s Executive Team, the Division Fire Chief is a highly responsible administrative and supervisory position responsible for overseeing one or more of the major divisions of the fire department. The Division Fire Chief directs, manages, supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of assigned division(s) including emergency management, fire prevention, fire hazard suppression, emergency medical, fire code enforcement, and preservation of life and property requirements of the city. This position is responsible for supervising six (6) Battalion Chiefs and one or more administrative assistants. The ideal candidate will have a proven successful background in fire service operations with increasingly responsible supervisory and managerial experience in a command capacity. Strong communication and emotional intelligence, the ability to manage change in times of uncertainty, and a willingness to set clear expectations to create a culture of accountability will serve the Division Chief well.
