Assistant General Manager, Water Operations
Modesto Irrigation District

Modesto Irrigation District is seeking an Assistant General Manager, Water Operations. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Water Operations will oversee the activities related to both irrigation and domestic water treatment operations. Typical duties include providing staff assistance to the General Manager and Board of Directors and supervising and participating in the development and administration of the Water Operations Division Budget. The AGM of Water Operations shall provide input and direction on issues related to the District’s water rights and represent the District in negotiations with outside utilities on matters of common interest. The AGM shall ensure the District’s water delivery rules and regulations are in compliance with local, State and Federal regulations and will provide guidance on operational studies related to the District’s water transmission system, improvement districts, pumping and treatment plants, and private facilities.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced water operations professional with direct public agency experience and exceptional knowledge on the principles and practices of water distribution, production, treatment, storage, and transmission of irrigation water delivery. They will have a strong knowledge on surface and ground water hydrologic principles and understand rights and laws affecting District facilities and rights-of-way. A seasoned professional who applies policy direction from the General Manager and someone who can effectively analyze, interpret and apply complex water rights is preferred. The next AGM of Water Operations is one who will exercise good supervision over assigned management, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative support personnel.

Salary: $183,539 – $238,596
