Chief Communications Officer
Utah Transit Authority

Utah Transit Authority is seeking a Chief Communications Officer. The Chief Communications Officer plays a critical role in getting things done at UTA. This is a C-Suite-level position reporting to the Executive Director and crafts the internal, external, and legislative messaging to promote UTA as the preferred method of transportation along the Wasatch Front, an indispensable partner in combatting poor air quality, and a champion of next-level strategic thinking in the development of vibrant communities throughout our service area. The Chief Communications Officer will provide layered expertise to UTA’s various stakeholders with staff, community, customer, and government affairs (particularly the legislature). This is not a government affairs position, but the selected candidate will have experience partnering with a government affairs team to craft messages to elected officials and educate them on the value, contributions, and impact of transit on their constituencies. This person will be a creative, strategic thinker “Big Thinker” with the capacity to reimagine UTA’s communications organization, platforms, and delivery mechanisms. The CCO will be a highly organized project manager who proactively wraps each marketing campaign into a cohesive strategy. Knowledge of transit policy and operations is desirable, but not required.
