City of Las Vegas is seeking an Economic Development Manager. The Economic Development Manager manages the Business Development Division. The City is looking for a talented economic development professional with a sense of urgency; a persistence in achieving objectives; and charisma to unify business interests to get things done. This person will be outgoing by nature, and will easily cultivate relationships and networks in target sectors of interest to the City. Individuals with a background in high growth urban areas will be especially competitive. Strong candidates will possess a skillset which demonstrates contemporary thinking about business retention, expansion and attraction programs, financial incentives, property acquisition assistance, disposition assistance, management, and relocation. One of the most expected candidate skills is creativity. While Las Vegas has a particular need to broaden its economy, the candidate who can create something better than what exists while ensuring a modern lifestyle, aligns with the existing community, and looks ahead to incorporate the appropriate environmental and construction technology would be ideal. Candidates should also be adept at establishing productive partnerships with current businesses and organizations in the community.
