Lincoln County is seeking a Director of Planning. This position performs responsible office and field work involving planning, zoning, Code Enforcement and land use; supervises and assigns the work of planning and Code Enforcement staff; provides staff support; interprets Department plans and codes; reviews, assesses, and prepares reports for current application proposals and recommends necessary modification for compliance; performs complex planning and project management for the County. The Director of Planning should bring strong experience with land planning principles and elements of neighborhood, street, and landscape design. Past experience with administration and functioning of Land Development Regulations and Codes is also necessary. A highly desirable trait is a familiarity with Federal laws dealing with public lands issues, especially in the West. The Commission desires a long-term commitment from this person, not only for continuity in the role, but also for the mentoring, development, and succession planning of junior staff.
