Risk Manager
City of South Gate

The City of South Gate, CA is seeking a Risk Manager. In this role, the Risk Manager is responsible for actively managing and implementing risk management programs and strategies aimed at creating a well-rounded and proactive culture of risk assessment, management, and prevention; develops, implements, and maintains programs and procedures that minimize city risk; and ensures compliance with policies that relate to insurance and risk management in the city.

Under administrative direction, the Risk Manager will manage and administer the City’s risk management programs related to Workers’ Compensation, general liability, and property and casualty insurance claims, including evaluation, procurement, and the renewal of programs. The Risk Manager shall administer employee safety, wellness, and training programs, maintain loss and self-insured retention records, coordinate insurance and indemnity provisions, and administer operational and claims budgets for Workers’ Compensation and general liability programs.

The Risk Manager shall maintain collaborative and consultative relationships with Department Heads and other city partners to initiate a city-wide awareness of strategic risk management. Moving this program forward will be a critical responsibility of this position and the expectation is that the Risk Manager will begin this process soon after joining the city. The Risk Manager position is critical to the city to put more emphasis on creating a safer environment for the workforce in terms of safety training, workstation analysis, and developing up-to date best practices for the city.

Salary: $117,408 – $142,716
