Solid Waste Director

City of Bakersfield is seeking a Solid Waste Director. The Solid Waste Director is responsible for planning and directing the general operation of municipal solid waste collecting, including treatment, disposal, diversion, and recycling programs; plans, organizes, integrates, directs, and coordinates activities of the Solid Waste Division; provides assistance to the Department Head with work of great complexity and sensitivity; makes public presentations and responds to public inquiries; and is assigned responsibility for specific functional areas; provides policy guidance and maintains cooperative relationships with community groups, intergovernmental agencies, and City staff. Under direction, acts as the Department Head in his/her absence. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with experience in the management of municipal solid waste operations, including the planning and direction of a variety of complex solid waste services and programs. Extensive budget, strategic planning, and capital facility and equipment operations/maintenance experience is expected in addition to a background working in highly regulated settings. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated dedication to the delivery of excellence through their prior work experience.

Salary: $118,695.20 - $144,281.28
