Public Works Director

City of San Jose is seeking a Public Works Director. The Public Works Director serves as a key advisor to the City Manager. The Public Works Director is responsible for ensuring that the Department is organized, the programs planned, designed, constructed, and maintained to operate all aspects of the City and fulfills these operational missions with effective, efficient, and quality services. To produce those outcomes, the next Director of Public Works must have exceptional political awareness and professionalism; an understanding that Directors are representatives of the City Manager; a history of successfully managing all aspects of public facilities; consistent policy adherence; a record of success and support of others; impeccable ethics and integrity, and effective focus and prioritization in coordination and facilitation with peers and partners in a matrix-management form of governance.
