Ojai Valley Sanitary District

The Ojai Valley Sanitary District (OVSD) is seeking a General Manager (GM), the GM will receive policy direction from the Board of Directors and shall be responsible for implementing the Board’s policies. The GM serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the District, accountable for enforcement of all District, local, state, and federal codes and regulations, financial activities, and the efficient and economical performance of the District’s operations. The GM ensures that all regulatory and contractual requirements are met, ensures delivery of services to District residents and businesses, and works with regulatory agencies, public and private groups. The GM provides direction and oversight for all District functions and activities, and provides policy guidance and program evaluation to the Board of Directors and management staff.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff, the Board of Directors, community partners, rate payers, and the public. Successful candidates will have demonstrated proven leadership in directing a workforce including staff functions, operating and maintenance departments as well as a strong understanding of wastewater treatment and collection systems. A successful GM will demonstrate financial acumen and have proven experience developing and implementing strategic business goals and an ability to identify opportunities for increased efficiencies while maintaining a high level of customer service. Experience with and interest in interfacing with stakeholders shall be key along with a strong understanding of organization structures that include a Board of Director, staff, partner roles and relationships.
