The City of Oklahoma City - Utilities Department is one of the largest City departments with over 800 employees, ten divisions, and an annual budget of $1 billion, provides water, wastewater, and solid waste management services. It also has a 50-year contract with the federal government to operate, maintain, repair, and replace water and wastewater facilities at Tinker Air Force Base.  The treatment and distribution system consists of two water treatment plants, four wastewater treatment plants, 4,000 miles of water pipe and 3,000 miles of sewer pipe.

The Deputy Director of Utilities Engineering is an executive management level position that is responsible for managing a team of professionals and licensed engineers and a ten-year capital improvement program exceeding $3.3 billion.  This role will also provide technical assistance to the water treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution/wastewater collection, and Tinker AFB divisions.  Candidates should have proven experience managing large and complex programs and projects. 

The position receives a very competitive benefits package and also receives a take home vehicle and 40 hours of vacation time starting on day one.  Relocation assistance is also provided. 

The City would prefer candidates to have a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, along with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience with an organization of similar size or complexity as the City of Oklahoma City with water and wastewater system engineering practices and principles.  This role requires a Professional Engineer’s License issued by the State of Oklahoma or a state having reciprocity with the State of Oklahoma.
