The city is looking for a new
Fire Chief
to lead an ISO-1 rated and internationally accredited department by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and lead their team The Southlake Way by striving to exceed expectations in the delivery of world-class fire and rescue services to those who live, work and play here. The Fire Chief will oversee a department comprised of 74 full-time positions within four divisions: Administration, Fire Operations, Fire Prevention, and Emergency Management and an FY 2025 annual operating budget of $12,640,044. The team includes 63 firefighters and EMS personnel operating on a three-shift system, ensuring round-the-clock emergency coverage from three strategically located facilities—East, West, and North—which house various firefighting and EMS apparatus, including engines, ladder trucks, ambulances, and specialized equipment.
Candidates shall have bachelor’s degree in fire science, public administration, or a closely related field or equivalent work experience, along with eight (8) years of increasingly responsible command and supervisory experience in an organized fire department with four (4) years of administrative and supervisory experience. A master’s degree in management, business or public administration, or a related field is desired. Candidates shall also possess their Texas Commission on Fire Protection and Fire Instructor certifications.
