is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director oversees the operations of the retirement systems in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. The ideal candidate will possess substantial knowledge of municipal retirement system operations, including relevant state and federal laws, along with a strong financial background and an understanding of permissible municipal investments. They should demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp the laws, policies, and specific characteristics of the Grand Rapids retirement systems. Exceptional organizational and communication skills are essential, particularly in developing diverse platforms to educate employees and retirees. The candidate should have experience building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including boards, money managers, legal counsel, actuaries, consultants, City officials, employees, retirees, and beneficiaries. Additionally, the candidate must consistently act in the best interest of the retirement systems, recognizing their independent status from the City.
