Chief Planning Officer
City of Fort Worth

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Chief Planning Officer (CPO). The CPO will serve as a core member of Fort Worth’s executive leadership team—acting as a trusted advisor, systems thinker, and cross-departmental integrator. This newly established position was created to respond to the city’s need for unified, future-ready planning leadership. The CPO will bring clarity, coordination, and strategic foresight to how Fort Worth plans and invests—across infrastructure, housing, mobility, economic development, and environmental stewardship.
This role is pivotal in transforming the City’s updated Comprehensive Plan from vision into action. The CPO will shape priorities, align department initiatives, and influence policies that support long-term, equitable, and sustainable growth. This is a high-impact opportunity to embed planning into the core of how Fort Worth grows—with transparency, community focus, and return on public investment.
The successful candidate will bring more than subject matter expertise; they will be a catalyst for alignment and innovation across city systems. With strong political and interpersonal acumen, the CPO will build trust with the City Council, appointed officials, and staff—and translate complex planning goals into tangible results. They will be equally comfortable in strategy sessions, community forums, or council chambers—clarifying trade-offs, building consensus, and inspiring shared ownership of the city’s future.
