The City of Carlsbad is seeking an experienced, motivated Building Official to lead the Building Division within Community Development. Reporting to senior leadership, this role manages all building and safety programs, including plan review, permitting, inspections, customer service, and code compliance. The Building Official provides technical expertise, ensures the consistent application of building codes, and represents the city in interactions with contractors, developers, business owners, residents, and public bodies. The Building Official supervises a staff of eight full-time and two part-time employees. This is an at-will unrepresented role with high visibility and impact in a world-class coastal community.

Location: Carlsbad, California
Salary: $149,316 - $181,666
