Chief Executive Officer
City of Princeton

The City of Princeton is seeking a Chief Executive Officer. The CEO is a City employee who reports to the City Manager and works closely with the EDC and CDC boards to advance their respective priorities. The CEO serves as the principal executive representative for both corporations and provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and guidance to support effective decision-making. The boards want to work with the next CEO to assess organizational needs and explore opportunities to build additional capacity as priorities and resources allow. The successful candidate will bring a hands-on approach to leadership, equally comfortable developing a long-range strategy, analyzing a financial proposal, negotiating with a prospective business, presenting to a board, and engaging with residents and community partners.

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with the practical business sense to turn possibilities into results. This individual understands that successful economic development is built on relationships, thoughtful investment, sound financial analysis, and a clear understanding of the community being served.
The next CEO will bring a proven record of advancing economic development initiatives and a strong command of the tools used to attract and retain business. A skilled negotiator, the CEO will be able to assess opportunities objectively, communicate their value and risks, and protect the interests of Princeton and its residents. Equally important, the successful candidate will understand that community and economic development are connected. They will see the potential to align business investment with the amenities, services, and public spaces that help a growing community flourish.
