County Administrator

Skagit County is seeking a County Administrator.  Based on the policies and direction of the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administrator directs the daily operations of local government. As an executive leader, the incumbent provides advice and counsel to the Board of County Commissioners. Interpreting and directing policy and budgetary actions are key responsibilities. The County Administrator will also be charged with inspiring staff and promoting best practices across an organization with more than 700 employees. Externally, the County Administrator will need to effectively communicate with the public, businesses, and other strategic partners. The County Administrator works collaboratively and closely with the Budget & Finance Director and the Human Resources/Risk Management Director in leading this three-member management team. Skagit County’s next County Administrator will enjoy a diverse, family-friendly, close-knit community. Candidates should expect to be visible and active in the community, collaborating with people and organizations as a hands-on working manager. Areas of focus will include work in water rights, the preservation of agricultural land, budget optimization, collective bargaining, housing, fiber infrastructure, public health, capital projects, public works, and legislative priorities.

Salary: $127,911 - $170,173
