The City of Hayward is seeking a Deputy Director of Human Resources who provides day-to-day oversight, improves efficiency, and ensures excellent service delivery of citywide human resources programs. The Deputy Director will be a savvy human resources professional who is knowledgeable of current and trending practices in the industry. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the incumbent performs various high level assignments and assists the Director of Human Resources in the development of strategies and programs that allow employees to be enabled, engaged and provides opportunities to advance their careers. This position requires a strong coach and mentor who can provide the necessary career tools to help the HR team reach new levels of achievement. Public sector experience is critical in this role. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are essential. A strong understanding of public agency budget and finance is desirable.
