Assistant City Manager
City of Glendale, AZ

The City of Glendale, AZ is seeking an Assistant City Manager.  The Assistant City Manager will report to the City Manager and will oversee roughly half of the city’s departments. The ideal candidate for this position is a collaborative leader, confident decision-maker operating within the scope of the position’s authority, and a strategic thinker with a thorough understanding of public administration. Desired skill sets and areas of experience will primarily be focused in the areas of community services, budget and finance, technology, parks and recreation, and special events. A candidate who understands and has experience in the enterprise funded public services may also be considered for this position. To continue the forward momentum of the Balanced Scorecard Strategy Map, the Assistant City Manager will focus on scoping and executing specific city-wide initiatives designed to improve performance. Some examples may include employee recognition, improved communication strategies, process improvement and cycle time, performance management, and the development of master plans and service level agreements. The city will also begin the process of data collection as it relates to performance management and begin work on the development of a performance dashboard to track progress. The Assistant City Manager will assist departments in beginning the process of developing their own scorecards that demonstrate how their work ties into the organization’s overall strategy.

Salary: $172,198 - $206,637
