The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a Human Resources Director. Working out of the Natural Resources Building (NRB) in Olympia, the Human Resources Director will work with executive leaders to help manage complex HR issues, anticipate the future, and influence service delivery as a strategic partner. This position is an active member of the agency leadership team that sets direction for the agency in all business areas. Reporting to the agency Deputy Director, the HR Director is responsible for the leadership and oversight of agency-wide HR functions in a division of 20 professional staff, 9 of which are direct reports. The successful candidate will demonstrate an awareness of ever-changing legal requirements, including new case law, thus ensuring agency compliance and mitigating associated risks from legal challenges related to human resource issues. This position will represent the agency on contractual or legal challenges regarding human resources. The Director also represents WDFW in developing and implementing effective negotiation with labor organizations and the Labor division of the Office of Financial Management.
