Assistant Solid Waste Director
City of Bakersfield

The City of Bakersfield is searching for an Assistant Solid Waste Director. Reporting to the Solid Waste Director (Division Head), the Assistant Solid Waste Director assists in managerial functions for the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of the municipal solid waste management system, including public outreach, administration, collection, treatment, disposal, diversion, recycling, landfill maintenance, and environmental compliance; plans, organizes, integrates, directs and coordinates activities of the Solid Waste Division; provides assistance to the Solid Waste Director with work of great complexity and sensitivity; makes public presentations and responds to public inquiries; provides policy guidance and maintains cooperative relationships with community groups, intergovernmental agencies and City staff. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with experience in the management of municipal solid waste operations. Extensive budget, strategic planning, and capital facility and equipment operations/maintenance experience is expected in addition to a background working in highly regulated settings.

Salary: $102,474 - $124,573
