South Coast Air Quality Management District is seeking a Deputy Executive Officer/Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer. Reporting to the Executive Officer, and working in collaboration with Executive Management, the South Coast AQMD Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Advisory (IDEA) Panel, and other stakeholders, the DEIO will develop strategies which integrate diversity and inclusion into South Coast AQMD initiatives and programs, will review and evaluate organization policies and procedures to ensure the acknowledgement and implementation of diversity and inclusion issues and needs are met, and oversee equal employment opportunity.
This position will also coordinate with, and provide support to, other South Coast AQMD departments and external organizations involved in Environmental Justice and other related diversity and inclusion initiatives.
The DEIO will be designated as South Coast AQMD’s key representative/liaison to the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) project, a national network of jurisdictions at the forefront of local and regional government’s work to advance racial equity.
In conducting business, the DEIO will strive to provide high quality services in a fiscally prudent manner, while consistently fostering a culture of collaboration within and outside South Coast AQMD to better integrate and coordinate services and actively promote diversity and inclusion to reflect and engage communities.
