Santa Clara Valley Water District is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Officer. Reporting to the Human Resources Deputy Administrative Officer, this position will assist in establishing and overseeing a new Labor Relations & Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance and Total Rewards & Data Analytics unit. These two crucial business areas provide key services including labor relations, EEO, benefits, classification/compensation, HRIS, and data analytics. The Assistant Officer will be instrumental in supporting leadership in strategy development in the areas of Labor Relations and Total Rewards, overseeing the strategic direction of the unit, and providing leadership, expertise, and long-term planning for services and programs. Managing a team of eleven full time employees, two directly and nine indirectly, the Assistant Officer will provide oversight and direction, lead and strengthen support for, and improve the alignment of these critical business areas, creating strategies and synergy with this new unit. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and labor leaders on the goal of recruiting and retaining the best possible talent to execute the mission of Valley Water.
