Human Resources Director
County of Galveston

The County of Galveston, TX is seeking a Human Resources Director. Under the leadership of the County Judge and the Chief of Staff, the Human Resources Director will lead a department comprised of the Human Resources Director, Assistant Human Resources Director, HR Analyst, Onboarding Specialist, and Benefits Specialist.  The Department handles all areas of human resources including benefits administration, recruitment and retention, insurance, class and compensation, employee relations and engagement, training and development, and performance management and discipline.

The Human Resources Director will be responsible for directing, managing, and overseeing all human resources programs, initiatives, and operations in support of the County’s strategic vision.  This role effectively partners and collaborates with County employees and departments to provide the full human resources life cycle of services to attract, retain, and develop an inclusive, diverse, and high-performing workforce.

Candidates shall have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related major, and at least ten years of experience in human resources applications and management or closely related experience.  A professional certification, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM SCP, IPMA-CP, or IPMA-SCP is desirable, but not required.  Prior experience working in municipal government human resources is preferred.

 

Location: Galveston, Texas
Salary: $135,150 - $140,500
