County of Riverside, CA – Department of Animal Services is seeking an Animal Services Director. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled, dynamic, insightful leader with a solid understanding of current animal service principles and practices. Excellent customer and community relations skills along with political acumen and a thorough knowledge of the legislative environment will serve the incumbent well, as will solid financial abilities to build and maintain fiscal sustainability. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, capable of program implementation through teamwork and collaboration, and is able to communicate effectively with people from all walks of life, including community representatives, elected officials, Board members, executive team members, internal staff, and the media. The Animal Services Director must be able to manage people and the creative process with inspiration, show capacity to multi-task and manage a diverse array of activities, programs and people, while leading with diplomacy, inclusive communication, and positive motivational leadership.
